This article focuses on a conversation regarding the 15th President of the United States, James Buchanan who presided the United States from the year 1857 to 1861, about 100 years before this conversation took place. In the newspaper "New York Herald Tribune" dated February 2, 1958, there was a funny headline about Buchanan and a reference to the "Lecompton bill." He sent the 35th Congress a bill to admit Kansas under the Lecompton Constitution. Buchanan was a man who said slavery was a moral wrong. There was a kind of openness about him that was refreshing.
