Effective leadership at all levels is of paramount importance in the NHS Leadership, as opposed to management, is high on the policy agenda, particularly for clinicians. This paper reviews and applies different approaches to leadership to the case of doctors working in the NHS. It suggests an eclectic approach, utilising the variety of approaches to provide insights about the leadership role of doctors.
