In a digitising world, it is crucial to involve individuals with limited (digital) health literacy in technological developments. This research illuminates the preferences and needs of individuals with a migration background regarding support in digital healthcare. Collaborating with participants, both constraining and facilitating factors were identified. The results indicate that access to and utilisation of digital healthcare support are influenced by existing (digital) health literacy, personal characteristics, and a familiar and open learning environment. On the other hand, individuals with a migration background face obstacles in obtaining and utilising support, possibly due to limited proficiency in the Dutch language, negative past experiences, and mismatched (support) offerings. Collaboration with the intended user in the design and development of (support for) digital healthcare can contribute to better aligning services with their needs, making their participation in healthcare digitisation more accessible, and helping to reduce health disparities.
