A 73-year-old man developed Gitelman-like syndrome while being treated with omeprazole. The man had a history of hypertension, sarcopenia, and diabetes, and was admitted to the hospital after experiencing a seizure. He had been taking antihypertensive drugs and omeprazole for 8 years, as well as consuming alcohol daily. Tests revealed severe hypomagnesemia and other findings consistent with Gitelman-like syndrome. The man's omeprazole therapy was stopped, and he received magnesium replacement treatment. After two weeks, his magnesium levels returned to normal and he was discharged from the hospital. [Extracted from the article]
