The article comments on the completion of a cogwheel computer which was designed but never built by the Victorian scientist and mathematician, Charles Babbage. The efforts of Babbage to build the cogwheel brain was met with ridicule and he died a disappointed man in 1871. Babbage during his time was challenged with the lack of a precision metal industry. The components of the device could have been produced in the nineteenth century.
