The article provides information on how to make primary care a safer workplace. The definition of non-physical assault (NPA) was introduced in November 2003 as part of the Secretary of State Directions on work to tackle violence against staff and professionals who work in the British National Health Service. Examples of NPA are the use of offensive language, loud and intrusive conversation, unwanted or abusive remarks. The framework of the Security Management Service is detailed.
