A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge has stated that Northwest Airlines Inc. could impose a new contract if the airline and the previous union, the Professional Flight Attendants Association, failed to negotiate a new contract by July 17, 2006. AirTran Holdings Inc. plans to add 2,500 new jobs in Georgia over the next five years by creating 500 positions a year. The company already employs 5,200 crew members in the state out of 7,700 nationwide. Boeing Co. has been awarded a $138-million option to build three additional GPS satellites under its U.S. Air Force Navstar GPS Block IIF contract.
