This article provides information concerning the poem "Descriptive Sketches," by William Wordsworth and edited by Eric Birdsall in Great Britain. One would like to point in similar fashion to the source Wordsworth had echoed and acknowledged by putting quotation marks around sultry ray. Birdsall has admitted that he cannot identify a source for the phrase sultry ray. Comparison with the immediate context of Wordsworth's line shows that beyond the sulty ray, there are echoes from stedfast eyes and to throw.
