The article discusses a study which investigated the efficacy and safety of neuraminidase inhibitors in preventing the transmission, symptoms, or complications of seasonal influenza. The researchers analysed the Cochrane central register of controlled trials and searched for post-marketing pharmacovigilance data, as well as comparative safety cohorts. It was found that there was an unexpected uncertainty about the previous conclusion on the effectiveness of the antiviral drug oseltamivir to reduce lower respiratory tract infection complications.
