The article discusses a study which investigated the association between increased educational attainment among women and child mortality in 175 countries between 1970 and 2009. The authors conducted a systematic analysis of censuses and nationally representative surveys and computed counterfactual estimates of child mortality for every country. The authors concluded that there was a strong correlation between women's education and the reversal of gender gap and reductions in child mortality in the past 40 years.
