The article discusses a study to evaluate whether women with atrial fibrillation have a higher risk of stroke as compared to men. The participants included patients with a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in Sweden. The study concluded that women with atrial fibrillation have an increased risk of stroke compared with men; however, those women younger than 65 years and with no other risk factors have a low risk for stroke and do not need anticoagulant treatment.
