The article describes a study to assess mortality due to psychological distress across he full range of severity. Result indicate, psychological distress across the full range of scores was associated with increased mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease, and external causes, even in people who would not usually come to the attention of mental health services; higher levels of distress were similarly associated with cancer deaths.
