The article revives the idea of education as Bildung rather than a view of education as merely teaching, training or schooling. It refers to Bildung as a social and dialogic process where human relationships are crucial for the birth of insights. It indicates that the process of Bildung is about engaging with the human condition with the help of Bild/images. It reports to philosophers Immanuel Kant and Wilhelm von Humboldt as the interlocutors in developing the idea of aesthetic Bildung.
