An essay is presented which discusses the 1784 map of the U.S. titled "A New and Correct Map of the United States of North America (1784)," by the Connecticut printer, engraver and counterfeiter Abel Buell, including the history of its copies from 1784 through the early 21st century. An overview of Buell's portrayal of Connecticut on the map, including its encompassing New York state, is provided. An overview of the copies of Buell's map held by U.S. historical societies is provided.
