Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) is making its first foray into broadcast sponsorship with a six figure tie up with two of Sky One's flagship shows, Malcolm in the Middle and Oliver Beene. The video games firm is using the sponsorship to promote its Sims 2 title, due for launch on September 17, 2004. Sponsorship credits will run during the shows' peak time slots on Saturdays and Sundays. The tie-up marks the first phase in EA's entertainment focused marketing strategy.
