Aim: Idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is a term that characterizes two conditions, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which are characterized as chronic and recurrent inflammatory disorders with a peak incidence around 20 years. Patient compliance can be defined as the extent to which a patient's behavior is consistent with the instructions given by health professionals. The general aim of the research study is to investigate the role of depression in non-adherence to medication in patients with ulcerative colitis. The present research was carried out within the framework of the "Adult Nursing Care" Master's Program, from January 2022 to September 2022. Materials-Methods: For the purpose of the research, a closed-ended questionnaire was created, in which 50 patients participated. Statistical analysis was performed with the IBM SPSS Statistics statistical analysis package. Results: The results showed that several demographic factors are related to medication adherence in ulcerative colitis. Conclusions: Finally, it was proven both in the literature and from the data of this research that in addition to the fact that the psychological state can affect compliance with medication, communication and correct information from the nursing staff can play a very important role in increasing compliance of patients with their medication.
