The article reports on top 100 brands in the U.S. based on advertising and media spending over the first half of 2000 compiled by "Advertising Age" magazine. Total first half media spending was a record $47.66 billion, up by 14.9 percent over the prior-year period. The Top 100 megabrands amassed $12.4 billion in spending, some 74 percent the Top 200 companies' ad take of $16.74 billion.
