Conclusion: A discharge interview should be scheduled with the patient and be held a couple of days prior to discharge. The patient information leaflet, the staff and fellow patients are the primary sources of information. There is no need to establish a transplantation "Café". Method: A qualitative study in which five informants were interviewed based on a semi-structured guide containing three main themes with subcategories. Findings: The information gained during the admission was dependent upon the time and place of the training, as well as the patient's condition. The informants' primary sources of information were the patient information leaflet, the staff and fellow patients. They preferred personal contact and the opportunity to ask specific questions and exchange experiences. The informants did not report a need for a regular forum with training and discussion of their experiences following transplantation. Nursing implications: We recommend scheduling the discharge interview well ahead of discharge. A secondary finding is that informants express worry about returning home and resuming responsibility.
