The article provides the results of a reconciliation of the bilateral current-account statistics of Canada and the U.S. for 2010 and 2011. It cites the usefulness of bilateral reconciliation exercises to identify potential improvements in measures of international transactions between trading partners. It indicates that the statistical differences reflect the use of different source data in the U.S. and Canada and the difficulty of determining country attribution due to insufficient data.
