The information given to patients with breast cancer is fundamental when planning and carrying out oncoplastic techniques due to their repercussions on the patient's body image, as well as the complications specific to each procedure. These considerations require an exchange of information with the patient, the aim of which is to discuss the technique and its possible complications. During this exchange, conflicts concerning specific aspects of the technique may arise. Examples of these conflicts are the patient's refusal to allow surgery on the healthy breast to achieve symmetry--jeopardizing the surgeon's ability to achieve a good cosmetic result--and the patient's inability to understand the technique proposed. This article aims to describe the information that should be given to patients with breast cancer during the planning stage of an oncoplastic technique, as well as to identify the conflicts that can arise and propose ways of resolving them.
