Various studies have shown that many children are limited in their daily activities because they get too little exercise or because they have problems with sensory processing. That doesn't necessarily mean that occupational therapy is indicated. Targeted tips and behavioral changes can bring about an improvement. Many studies discuss the everyday motor skills or the sleeping behavior of normally developed children. However, these studies will also be useful to occupational therapists, providing tips for sensory processing patterns and rituals. A further study demonstrates the sensory challenges connected with dental hygiene for children with ASD. In this article therapists will discover a variety of aspects of sensory perception processing for home consulting as well as for dental practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
