The article focuses on a new law passed in California for payment of compensation to victims of crimes of violence. Compensation under the California bill, will depend on roughly the same criteria as the aid to families with dependent children, which costs an average of $170 a month for each family, but it waives the usual property qualification. The bill has enjoyed widespread approval in the state and it is hoped that California experiment will spread to other states. New York and Illinois are thinking actively along the same lines.
