The aim of this study is to examine the reasons why parents guide their children to football. The research was designed in the screening model, one of the qualitative research approaches. The study group consisted of children aged between 6-13 years (71 males) in the center of Ankara. With 29 volunteer mothers and 42 volunteer fathers, totally 71 parents participated in this study. As a data collection tool, semi-structured interview form was used to learn the personal opinions of the parents. Content analysis was used for data analysis. According to the data obtained from the opinions of the participant parents; self-induced reasons for children's participation in football and the opinions of parents about the reasons for guiding their children to football were examined in categories. As a result, among the causes of children; the idea of being a popular sport, the love of coaches and their environment were observed. Based on the participant parents' reasons; intention to keep away their children from bad habits, to keep away their children from digital environments thanks to football, to socialize their children with sport in this process to support their talents and sport activities were found.
