After the suppression of Imrich Tokoly's uprising of estates, the positions of Roman- Catholicism and the Jesuits in Trenčín were consolidated. The town was exhausted by war conflicts and this fact caused indebtedness. The crafts and trade were gradually developing. The town cash office was gradually fed up as well. The Jesuits, who established the noviciate in Trenčín, were working here during this period. In the years 1695 -1704 or 1703, 57 novices - fraters became the members of the order. J. Gludavach, who was brought to fame by Jozef Branecký in the novel Fráter Jo hann es, was the prominent among them. The attractively written novel was published in several editions. The paper deals with Fráter J. Gludavach and others. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
