Zugriff:
The treatise Von der musikalischen Poesie by Christian Gottfried Krause published in Berlin in 1752 offers a comprehensive view of musical, poetical and aesthetical concepts of the artificial song genre (Lied) as the first one in German literature. It also pays attention to outline obligatory features of representative vocal forms like opera, oratorio and cantata. It is based on poetics and music-poetical examples from earlier as well as period practice, providing interesting information on changes of poetry and music in the preferred genres. Krause expects his readers to have a wide knowledge of literature and therefore he often does not mention the authors from whom he takes the examples. The examples are conveniently shown within the context of theoretical works. The range of quoted works was huge. With respect to the flexible way of quoting it is not always easy to say whether the examples are taken from other authors or used for the first time. The author tried to look at the examined issues, especially in the field of basic vocal genres, in the most comprehensive way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
