Lexicography is one the oldest field of knowledge. It has at least 4000 years of history. Almost every multi lingual nation perceived it need and had made efforts to fill the language gap. One can find that before colonial era many European and Indian linguists produced fine works of Urdu Lexicography. This tradition continued in Pakistan and Urdu Lexicographer worked hard to flourish the language. There are two main types of works one can find here.
