The study analyses the last will of the canon of Esztergom Chapterhouse and Trnava former priest Peter Škoda from 1575. His ancestors came from the southern regions, from Dubrava near Zagreb, but the canon Škoda moved further north around 1550 for safety, until it finally settled in Trnava. His will helped us understand his life and the values he professed and promoted. He wanted to be buried in the St. Nicolaus Church in Trnava. He divided his property in the testament, so we can form a picture of its size and composition. He owned a house in Trnava, which included a grain granary and two vineyards outside the town. In the first place, he endowed ecclesiastical institutions and clergy. He bequeathed them valuable chalices, rings, cash money and other things. He also remembered his relatives and servants, especially his former housemaid Sophia and her daughter Helena. He also gave them his clothes. He tried to settle debts, as he had several things in reserve. He owed more than 81 gold to several burghers, one merchant and a fellow canon. In the last will, however, he did not remember the monks of Trnava, the monasteries in the town or their churches. It was also characteristic that at the beginning of the modern age the references for the beggar and poor receded. However, he drafted the will as standard, it was typical for the 16th century and for similar church dignitaries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
