Aimed at the problem that angular-temporal spectrum (ATS) analysis can not accurately extract the fault features of bearings under variable speed, a fault feature extraction method for rolling bearings is proposed based on improved ATS analysis. Firstly, the time-frequency characteristics of signal are analyzed to calculate the three-dimensional ATS of signal. Then, the average infogram is introduced to select the frequency band containing fault features of bearings. Finally, the improved ATS of signal is obtained by integrating the three-dimensional ATS with selected frequency band as integral range. The test shows that the improved ATS analysis method can accurately analyze the fault order and reflect the fault characteristics of bearings under variable speed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
