Locke (1632-1704) is one of the leading philosophers who represented British philosophy in 17th century as well as a senior philosopher during French Age of Enlightenment occurred in 18th century. Besides his fundamental contributions to epistemology and political philosophy, he also had several works concerning education. The article deeply analyzes J. Locke's conception of the role, goals and methods of educating children. According to Locke, education plays a decisive role in shaping children's personality and knowledge. The work of education must be started from the time the child is still in the cradle, and the focus of education is on moral education and then on education. Education is an art with the right methods. Education is the means to help each individual achieve a truly happy life, with a healthy body, a clear mind and other external conditions.
