We present here the study of the course and the works of the artist from Madagascar known as Mily Clément. Although the definition of the young discipline, ethnomusicology, is in our view more controversial than ever, we are trying to conduct this examination through it. “multidisciplinary by vocation as well as by necessity, it is moving in several directions” writes Gilles Léothaud. This multidisciplinarity will be taken as a method to approach the musical style of Mily Clément. How to understand the notion of creolization of music in the north of Madagascar through the life and works of Mily Clément? What tools are used to forge this aesthetic? These are the main questions. The following lines will develop an ethnography in the form of a life story. Implicitly, this study wishes to ask the question again: what is ethnography? Our hypothesis is the following: in musicology, it is customary to study the personal histories of composers. These are the music makers. These explorations of life story make it possible to understand what is at the heart of the works as welle as their genesis. At the same time, ethnomusicologists attach great importance to these life stories which a real key to understanding the society from which the composers come. It is therefore also a way of ethnography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
