Objective: To determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on euthanasia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to characterize the knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding the practice of euthanasia. The questionnaire was applied from March 2020 to February 2021. The questionnaire was applied to a population of Chiclayo, Peru. The sample was selected by non-probabilistic sampling for the convenience of the researchers. Descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis were used, using Microsoft Excel and InfoStat statistical software. Results: In our study the age range was between 15-57 years, the majority of the sample studied were women, 40 (56.3%) compared to 31 (43.7%) men. Regarding the knowledge of the surveyed population about euthanasia, when asked what euthanasia is, 59 (83.1 %) answered that it is to hasten the death of a terminal patient with the intention of avoiding suffering and pain. Of the total respondents only 37 (52.1 %) know the difference between passive and active euthanasia. Of the 71 respondents 42 (59.2 %) responded to be in favor of euthanasia while 29 (40.8 %) were against this practice. Conclusions: There is a need for adequate training in bioethics, the population knows what euthanasia is, but cannot differentiate it in its variants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
