This article presents the editorial and translatory work of Joan Gili (1907-1998) through the bookstore and publishing house he founded and directed, The Dolphin Book (London 1935 - Oxford 1996). The uniqueness of the company lies in the fact that it introduced Hispanic literature to the English-speaking audience through translations of original works by writers, the majority of whom were oppressed by the Franco regime in Spain. We argue that the success of these translations is explained by the theory of eco-translation (Cronin 2017), which establishes both place and social context as key pieces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
