The article presents a case study of a 74-year-old schizophrenic woman who had poor self-care, fatigue and suicidal ideation. Evaluation showed long-time restrictive eating patterns that led to low body weight, intense fear of gaining weight, and a comorbidity of anorexia nervosa. The woman was given a greater variety of foods in her diet over 4 weeks, and her ability to tolerate weight gain distress, and her body-mass index (BMI) increased. She was later medically admitted in a nursing home.
