Musculoskeletal diseases are evident in the nursing staff, since they are the labor group with the highest incidence of back pain, effort pain, and neurological symptoms, as a result of manual handling, the clinical condition of the patients, and the applicable biomechanical principles. Musculoskeletal Disorders are a group of disorders, which affect various parts of the body and manifest with painful symptoms. The objective of this work was to evaluate the musculoskeletal alterations associated with the manual mobilization of patients, in the nursing staff of a hospital in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. The study approach was qualitative and quantitative with a descriptive and cross-sectional scope applied to a population of 13 nurses. The information was obtained through the Kuorinka Nordic questionnaire, which determined that the body areas affected in the last year were: lower back 77%, ankles and feet 69%, neck 46%, dorsal 38%, knees 31%, shoulder 23%, wrist 8%; the MAPO method established a risk index of 5.8 requiring short-term interventions. It is concluded that the MAPO index is high, having 5.6 times more risk of developing musculoskeletal problems than the rest of the population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
