A study conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, explored the use of CT coronary angiography (CTCA) in detecting coronary artery abnormalities (CAAs) in children with Kawasaki Disease (KD). The researchers found that CTCA was able to identify CAAs in the distal segments of coronary arteries, including branches, that could not be detected by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). CTCA also revealed complications such as thrombosis, mural calcification, and stenosis that were missed by TTE. The study suggests that CTCA may be a valuable complementary imaging modality for children with KD who have CAAs on TTE. [Extracted from the article]
