A recent study conducted by researchers at Shanxi Medical University in China explored the role of synaptotagmin 1 (SYT1) in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis. The study found that SYT1 expression was lower in CRC tissues and cell lines compared to normal colorectal tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of SYT1 inhibited pseudopodial formation, cell migration, invasion, and metastasis in CRC cells. The study suggests that SYT1 may serve as a therapeutic target for CRC. Further details of the study can be found in the article "Synaptotagmin 1 Suppresses Colorectal Cancer Metastasis by Inhibiting ERK/MAPK Signaling-Mediated Tumor Cell Pseudopodial Formation and Migration" published in the journal Cancers.
