A recent study conducted at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China, focused on a middle-aged man who presented with symptoms of poor appetite, polyuria, polydipsia, and headache. After further examination, a sellar mass was discovered, along with total pituitary hypofunction and visual field defect. Initially, the diagnosis considered autoimmune hypophysitis, but after multidisciplinary discussion, a high possibility of pituitary tuberculosis infection was determined. The patient was treated with standardized anti-tuberculosis treatment, resulting in a noticeable reduction of the lesion and improvement in the patient's condition. This case highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in diagnosing and treating rare diseases like pituitary tuberculosis infection. [Extracted from the article]
