A recent study conducted at Chiba University Hospital in Japan investigated the effectiveness of gemcitabine (GEM) + nab-paclitaxel (nab-PTX) combination therapy in elderly patients with pancreatic cancer. The study included 160 patients and compared the treatment efficacy and prognostic factors between non-elderly and elderly patients. The results showed that the GEM + nab-PTX regimen had a similar antitumor effect in both age groups. However, the prognostic factors were reduced in the elderly, suggesting the need to identify specific factors to determine the appropriate treatment for elderly patients. [Extracted from the article]
