Researchers at Max Stern Yezreel Valley College in Israel have explored the encounter between philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein and psychologist Carl Stumpf's work in Tone Psychology. The researchers argue that Stumpf's emphasis on musicality troubled Wittgenstein's initial formulation of his comparison between language and music. They suggest that Wittgenstein's philosophy only fully developed the language-as-music simile in his later period. This research has been peer-reviewed and is available in the Archiv fur Geschichte der Philosophie journal. [Extracted from the article]
