A recent study examined the impact of long-distance aeromedical evacuation on the prognosis of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). The study compared patients flown from a remote island without neuro-interventional capacities to a control group in Paris, France. The results showed that while the evacuation resulted in a longer embolization time, it did not affect mortality or functional prognosis at one year. The study also found that the cost of treating a patient from the remote island in mainland France was estimated to be 17% of the cost in the island. However, it should be noted that this study has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
