A recent study conducted by researchers from Anhui Medical University in China examined the effects of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on blood pressure variability (BPV) and blood pressure load (BPL) in hypertensive patients. The study found that BPV and BPL were significantly higher in patients with moderate to severe OSA compared to those with mild OSA or without OSA. The researchers also identified several risk factors for elevated BPV in hypertensive patients with OSA, including the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and various measures of apnea severity. The study concludes that BPV is correlated with AHI and other apnea-related factors in hypertensive patients with OSA. [Extracted from the article]
