A recent study conducted in Switzerland examined the use of robotic surgery in general and digestive surgery departments. The study found that the number and types of robotic procedures varied widely among different institutions. The majority of departments that performed robotic surgery were public institutions, with rectum and colon surgeries being the most common procedures. The study also found that higher accreditation for general surgery or subspecialization of visceral surgery was associated with a greater use of robotic techniques. Overall, the availability of robotic surgery was found to be unequal across different hospitals. [Extracted from the article]
