A new report from the Mayo Clinic discusses the implementation of obstetric (OB) hospitalist telemedicine services (TeleOB) to support clinicians facing OB emergencies in low-resource hospital settings. The service was available via real-time high-definition audio/video technology for providers at 17 outlying hospitals across a health system spanning two states. The study found that TeleOB is feasible for supporting hospitals with no delivery facilities or limited maternity care resources. This research provides valuable insights into the use of telemedicine in obstetrics and its potential to improve access to care in underserved areas. [Extracted from the article]
