A report from Eastern Virginia Medical School discusses the outcomes of cesarean section deliveries compared to vaginal deliveries for pregnancies between 22 and 28 weeks of gestation. The study found that cesarean delivery was associated with decreased odds of neonatal death for noncephalic fetuses in all gestational age groups. However, in cephalic fetuses, cesarean delivery was associated with increased odds of adverse neonatal outcomes and severe maternal morbidity. The research suggests that the mode of delivery may have different effects depending on the fetal presentation. [Extracted from the article]
