A recent study conducted at University Hospital in Munich, Germany, has explored the use of 11-ketotestosterone and 17-hydroxyprogesterone as potential biomarkers for therapy adjustment in patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The study analyzed saliva samples from 17 patients and found that both steroids exhibited a circadian diurnal rhythm and showed a significant correlation. However, it was also noted that 11-ketotestosterone levels appeared to be influenced by body mass index (BMI). These findings provide a basis for further research into the use of 11-oxygenated androgens as therapeutic markers in pediatric CAH. [Extracted from the article]
