A recent report published by the Epidemiology Unit and Girona Cancer Registry examines the differences in survival and recurrence of colorectal cancer across population-based European registries. The study analyzed data from 15 cancer registries in seven European countries and identified 8,785 patients with colorectal cancer. The research found variations in the proportion of nonmetastatic resected colorectal cancers and the overall 5-year net survival rates among the countries. The study emphasizes the importance of population-based collection of cancer recurrence information to improve evidence-based management of colorectal cancer follow-up. [Extracted from the article]
