The human resources of every company comprise educated, professional and motivated employees. Depending on their level of competence, expertise and level of motivation for their work, were cognise the value of human capital and its competitive advantage in the market. Professional development means the acquisition of additional professional knowledge of employees with the aim of improving their work performance and raising the level of motivation for work. Professional development can be carried out at the initiative of the company or the initiative of employees and can be conducted by external lecturers or lecturers and trainers within the company itself. This paper will analyse the characteristics of professional development of employees in relation to other elements of there ward and motivation system. We will get to know the forms of professional development and the plan for the implementation of professional development through the operational planning of the company's human resources management. Investing in employees increases the value of human capital, and thus the total value of the company's capital, which creates a stimulating work environment that results in more efficient and productive employees who create additional value for the company. For the purposes of this paper, a survey will be conducted in the form of a survey among the adult population with the aim of inspecting the frequency of professional development of human resources in a certain period of time and how successful completion of professional training affects the level of professional knowledge and competences and the level of motivation in the workplace. Ljudske resurse poduzeća čine obrazovani, stručni i motivirani zaposlenici, a ovisno o stupnju njihovih kompetencija, stručnosti te razini motiviranosti za posao koji obavljaju govorimo o vrijednosti ljudskog kapitala te njegovoj konkurentskoj prednosti na tržištu. Stručno usavršavanje podrazumijeva stjecanje dodatnih stručnih znanja zaposlenika u cilju poboljšanja njihovih radnih performansi i podizanja stupnja motivacije za posao. Stručna usavršavanja mogu se provoditi na inicijativu poduzeća, ili na inicijativu zaposlenika te mogu biti vođena od strane vanjskih predavača, ili predavača odnosno trenera unutar samog poduzeća. U radu će se analizirati karakteristike stručnog usavršavanja zaposlenika u odnosu na ostale elemente sustava nagrađivanja i motivacije zaposlenika. Upoznati ćemo oblike stručnog usavršavanja te planiranje provedbe stručnog usavršavanja kroz operativno planiranje menadžmenta ljudskih resursa poduzeća. Ulaganjem u zaposlenike povećava se vrijednost ljudskog kapitala, a samim time i ukupna vrijednost kapitala poduzeća te se na taj način stvara poticajno radno okruženje koje za posljedicu ima efikasnije i produktivnije zaposlenike koji stvaraju dodatnu vrijednost poduzeću. Za potrebe rada provesti će se istraživanje u obliku ankete među punoljetnom populacijom s ciljem uvida kolika je učestalost stručnog usavršavanja ljudskih resursa u određenom vremenskom periodu i na koji način uspješno završeno stručno usavršavanje utječe na razinu stručnih znanja i kompetencija te razinu motivacije na radnom mjestu.
