A new report from researchers at Stanford University discusses the use of Lutetium-177 [Lu-177]Lu-PSMA-617 radioligand therapy (RLT) for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The study examines the clinical utility of a next-generation multi-detector Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride (CZT) SPECT/CT system in assessing treatment response. The researchers found that quantitative analysis of SPECT/CT images taken 1-2 hours after therapy showed promising results in assessing treatment response, with reductions in tumor volume associated with improved overall survival and prostate-specific antigen-progression free survival. However, further investigation and validation are needed to confirm these findings and explore the role of SPECT/CT as an adjunct to PSMA PET/CT in managing mCRPC. [Extracted from the article]
