A study conducted by Acibadem University in Adana, Turkey, examined the efficacy of different oral hygiene regimens in preventing chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in pediatric patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The study divided 171 patients into three groups, each receiving a different treatment: a mouthwash mixture, hyaluronic acid, or a solution of sodium bicarbonate. The results showed that hyaluronic acid was more effective in treating oral mucositis compared to the other treatments. This research provides valuable insights into potential treatment options for pediatric patients experiencing this side effect of stem cell transplantation. [Extracted from the article]
