Yunak Fault Zone located in the eastern part of the Afyon Akşehir Graben generally consists of many normal fault splays trending NESW and dipping towards the southeast, and has a morphologically distinct lineament. In this study, five segments of the Yunak Fault Zone, namely, Karapınar, Cebrail, Üçkuyu, İncirli, and Ayrıtepe, were mapped for the first time at a 1/25,000 scale during the fieldwork. These segments were also named for the first time, and their geometric, kinematic, and active tectonic characteristics were analyzed for the first time. Findings obtained from the field studies indicate the presence of normal faults within the Yunak Fault Zone, with lengths ranging from 3 km to 18 km and widths between 300 m and 4 km. These normal faults have NS, EW, and NS -SW orientations and the potential to generate earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 5.6 to 6.7. A total of 227 kinematic measurements were collected in 17 different locations on the faults mapped in the study area. Paleostress analyses conducted within the scope of the thesis reveal that the faults in the region primarily formed through pure strike-slip faulting under the influence of extensional forces in the N-S direction and compressional forces in the E-W direction before the Quaternary period. During the Plio- Quaternary period, these faults were reactivated in a multi-directional extensional tectonic environment involving extension in the E-W, N-S, and NE-SW directions. The newly defined Akşehir Sub-Graben, controlled by the Yunak and Mevlütlü Fault Zones with oblique normal faulting, is introduced for the first time in this study. It exhibits a crossgraben nature over the down-dropped block of the master Sultandağı Fault. This study is supported by the AKÜ BAP the project number of 22.FEN.BİL.06. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
